Carol Kravitz Fine Artist

Landscapes, Still Life, Portraits

Born in New York City, Carol Kravitz attended the High School of Music
and Art and graduated from Pratt Institute where she received her B.A.
in Fashion Design. After a successful career as a designer and merch-
andiser in the Apparel Industry for 35 years, Kravitz chose to follow her
heart, and upon retiring in 2001, began studying painting full time at the
Art Students League in Manhattan. She has studied with several of the
finest contemporary realist and portrait artists in the world, including
Frank Mason, Gregg Kreutz, David Leffel, Frank Arcuri and John Phillip
J. Osborne and Sherry Camhy.

Kravitz's paintings and drawings are regularly featured in exhibition and juried shows and have won numerous awards. In addition to several successful one-woman exhibits throughout the Metropolitan area, an award-winning artist, she has  had a solo show at the Andrews Gallery in New York City, exhibited  at the Catherine Lorillard Wolfe 108th Annual Open Exhibition at the National Arts Club and the 64th Annual Audubon Artists Exhibition at the Salmagundi Club, to name but a few.  Awarded First Place in Oils at the Hudson Artists of New Jersey 53rd Annual Regional Juried Art Exhibit, one of her paintings was chosen for the Small Works exhibit at the Manhattan Burough President's Office in NYC.

Discribing her style as "Contemporary Realism," Kravitz explains: "I found painting to be a life-changing experience. The interaction of colors and painterly brushstrokes bring me great joy. It is that which I seek to share with others; communicating to the viewer the beauty that surrounds us, whether that be painting a simple still life in my studio or en plein aire as in the  landscapes and cityscapes of my experience."

In addition to still lifes and landscapes Kravitz's work also includes in-demand commissioned portraits of people and pets, where she strives to capture the personality and essence of each sitter.

A drawing instructor at Weehakwen High School, Kravitz also gives classes in drawing, watercolor and oil painting at her studio in Union City and teaches Arts & Crafts classes for Weehawken's Seniors  in Weehawken, NJ.
